As a licensed therapist, I see my role as one in which I act as a guide for clients desiring to create an emotional, physical and spiritual balance in their lives. My therapy practice takes a holistic approach, always considering each person's values, cultural identity, strengths, and life experiences. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients to make real and lasting change, often utilizing psychoeducation on the brain/body connection as well as teaching on the importance of brain health. I am particularly skilled in working with people dealing with parenting concerns, relationships, anger management, depression/anxiety, trauma, survivors of child abuse, postpartum related issues, and grief and loss- including but not limited to infertility, infant loss and miscarriage. As a therapist who also happens to be a mother and wife, I have a special place in my heart for children and families. Helping to change generational patterns of family dysfunction is my passion. Personally, I have navigated the muddy waters of loss myself through my own story of miscarriage, infertility, my husband's journey through stage 4 cancer and have come out the other side. Though my trials and yours may not be identical, no one persons are, I share to ensure you that as a person I have endured hardships which have equipped me to professionally empathize on a deeper level with you. My clients often remark how authentic our therapeutic relationship feels. I first started an early career as an elementary school Art Teacher within weeks of the traumatic 9/11 events. Since then, my mission has been to learn and help others process the emotional and somatic effects of trauma/stress on the immune system, neurodevelopment (brain) and attachment. In session, clients re-build a compassionate relationship between their mind and body by making creative connections with their physical and emotional pain using my specialization in Art Therapy and psychotherapy. My dream is to travel the world to learn more about healing/wellness across cultures and someday provide humanitarian mental health. I currently work full time with veterans who have served in the military. I left my position as a therapist with the County of San Bernardino working with youth and adolescents. Working with children who are in the system, either through CPS or Probation, impacted my personal life so much that I also decided to become a foster parent and provide forever homes to children within the system. Missing the therapeutic growth working with children led me to work for Norina’s practice, as I enjoy working with children and would like to continue working with children as long as I can! |
