While my focus has primarily been with substance abuse issues, I have been fortunate enough to have experience treating clients of all ages from a variety of different backgrounds. My path as a substance abuse counselor started when I began my own journey of recovery over 14 years ago. I found a kinship in the recovery community and I wanted to stay a part of it, which led me to becoming a case manager and group facilitator. Since then, I’ve worked with teens, young adults, middle-aged individuals and the elderly, as well as families and couples.
I grew up in Youngstown, Ohio and have made Southern California my home for the last 10 years. In the past, I worked in the film industry, serving as a screenwriter, playwright, and crew member on several independent productions throughout the Los Angeles area. When I am not in school, I am busy learning Spanish and writing short stories and novels. My latest book chronicles the struggles and follies that I experienced when leaving a high-demand religion. |
